The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest contains over 2000 miles
of streams (nearly 1400 miles are classified as trout water),
607 lakes greater than ten acres in size, over 400 spring ponds,
and 324,000 acres of wetland. The Hayward, Wisconsin Area Lakes'
wide diversity of prime habitat hosts numerous species of fish.

4 Steps to help stop aquatic hitchhikers
1. Remove any visible mud, plants, fish or animals before transporting equipment
2. Eliminate water from equipment before transporting
3. Clean and dry anything that came in contact with water (Boat, trailer, motor, net, fishing gear, swimming stuff, clothing, people, dogs, etc.)
4. Never release plants, fish, insects, or animals into a body of water unless they came out of that body of water.
