Outdoor Report

This week begins with some varied precipitation, but also starts a warming trend, with highs reaching 40 degrees on the weekend and into next week. Look for nighttime lows in the teens and low 20s. Still winter weather, but very nice for all outdoor recreational activities. The season is moving quickly, so try to enjoy it to the fullest!

The forecast predicts warmer days ahead this week, which will irritate some and make others smile ‑ not unlike Punxsutawney Phil’s predictions on Groundhog Day. Temperatures will range from -8 degrees to 34 degrees, with a mix of sun, rain, and snow.

The forecast this week calls for milder subzero lows in the single-digit to low double-digit range. Highs for the week are single-digit ABOVE zero, with temperatures in the 20s for the weekend! Wind chills are still in effect, but do get out and enjoy the warm-up!

The word for this week is COLD! Most highs are near zero degrees and many lows in double-digits. The forecast includes -29 degrees Thursday and (wait for it) -32 degrees Friday night!

The forecast indicates a Tuesday high of 38 degrees, and a sunny Wednesday with a 16-degree high and -2 low. It shows numerous chances for snow this week, but no accumulation at this time. Expect a cold weekend!

The North Woods will see a brief warm-up at midweek, with some sunshine, highs in the upper 30s, lows in the upper teens to mid-20s, and snow chances toward the week’s end. Quite pleasant weather for this time of year, and slightly above the long-term averages.

Following this past weekend’s foot of wet, heavy snow, cold temperatures return to the North Woods. Highs this week run from 6 to 23 degrees, lows from -10 to 6 degrees, and up to 2 inches of snow possible Tuesday.

The second day of winter forecast calls for a relatively mild week ahead, but the prognosticators continue to waver on the high for Christmas day. What was once 40 degrees is now 33 degrees, and of course subject to change at any time! Weather conditions are good through Christmas day Thursday, but with mixed precipitation that night into Friday, and through the weekend.

Take advantage of a very short warm-up Tuesday thru Thursday this week when daytime highs hit the mid- to upper-30s. It is a brief window of opportunity, so be sure to enjoy it!

The forecast predicts a week of snow and cold, no other way to say it ‑ and “official” winter is still two weeks distant! Look for highs from 2-29 degrees, lows from -14 to 16 degrees, and snow accumulation for the week around one foot.
