5. City of Hayward
The following streets are open to ATV riding to allow access to businesses in the city. Coming in from the north (Nelson Lake and Smith Lake), riders can travel down Olson Road to Hospital Road, to Havenwood Lane, Guard Street and Minnie Avenue. Other streets open to ATV travel include portions of Beal Avenue, Illinois Avenue, East Second Street, East Fourth Street, the entire length of Fifth Street and Johnson Street, and Railroad Street from Beal to Highway 27.
Riders also can ride Hospital Road west from Olson Road, crossing Highway 27-77 to Company Lake Road. Rock Creek Road also will be open south of Highway B.
The new routes will allow riders to drive from their motel to restaurants and other businesses.
6. Sawyer County ATV Policy
ATVs are not allowed off road on self-made trails through the timber or lowland areas. ATV’s are required to stay on marked ATV trails and forest roads. Closed trails are: The Birkie Trails and marked hunter/walking trails. ATV’s are not allowed to travel on snowmobile or other trails that cross privately owned property unless the trails are marked as an ATV trail or the operator has permission from the landowner. Stay on marked ATV trails/routes – just because snowmobiles use certain trails, it does not make it legal for ATV’s. If you don’t know if the trail is legal, don’t use it.
